Meet the Bawden Management Team

Richard Bawden - Managing Director

Richard BawdenRichard has worked in the turf care and grounds maintenance industry for over 35 years. His early career in the late Seventies was spent installing artificial cricket wickets across the UK and building his pitch care and grounds maintenance business. Having worked in the industry, for many years he has acquired a wealth of specialist knowledge that is regularly called on by Bawden Group clients.  Outside of work Richard enjoys restoring and showing vintage tractors regularly attending events across the South of England.  He also enjoys gardening and helping Nicola look after their four dogs.  

 

Nicola Bawden - Director and Company Secretary

Nicola BawdenNicola, is responsible for HR, training and health and safety, and ensures the company's employees meet all statutory and regulatory requirements in order to carry out their work professionally, safely and in line with industry best practice. She is an accomplished listener, mediator and motivator, which all help to build a loyal and reliable workforce.  Nicola also takes an active day to day role in the operational side of the business as far as contract management is concerned.  Nicola spends her time when not at working looking after, training and walking her four Flat Coat Retrievers.  She is also an acomplished musician playing the saxaphone and piano.  Nicola also enjoys cycling, walking, pilates and skiing.  

 

Richard Stone - Director, Finance and Business Development

The company's business performance and marketing are in very capable hands. Richard enjoyed a successful banking career prior to joining the Bawden Group to manage its finances. He now directs and monitors the company's financial and business performance, marketing activity and the preparation of major contract tenders.  Richard is also a Director at the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), the industries' leading trade association.  In his spare time Richard enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, running, cycling and gardening. Recently he has taken part in a half marathon around the Royal Parks in London.

 

Steve Viney - Contracts Manager - Amenity Horticulture

Steve Viney, Contracts Manager - Amenity Horticulture

Steve joined Bawden with over twenty years’ experience in landscaping and amenity horticulture under his belt and now heads up the company’s grounds maintenance division.

Qualified in Amenity Horticulture Management and with numerous skills-based competencies and health and safety qualifications, Steve is responsible for managing Bawden’s grounds maintenance contracts and ensuring all works are delivered to the contract specification and exceed clients’ expectations for quality and service.

His experience and knowledge of the industry, combined with his commitment to promoting and delivering professional excellence for Bawden’s wide client base, makes him an invaluable member of the Bawden management team. He works closely with the managers of our Tree Care and Fencing divisions to offer a comprehensive service to public sector, commercial and domestic clients alike.

 He is also passionate about developing the employees for whom he is responsible and building teams that take a pride in their work and aspire to progress within the company. 

 

Melanie Stone - Payroll and Personnel

Mel is a familiar face and voice as far as Bawden's established customers and suppliers are concerned as she is the company's longest serving employee. She handles all payroll, PAYE and other staff pay related matters.  Mel also plays an important part in the smooth running of the office from an administrative perspective, being meticulous with her record keeping.  With two teenage children Mel doesn't get too much spare time to herself but when whe does she enjoys crafts and cooking.  She is a professional seamstress. an accomplished dress maker and proficient in soft furnishings.

 

Mark Edwards - Fencing Manager

Bawden's successful fencing supply and installation division, Fencing Essentials, is headed up by Mark Edwards. Before joining us he worked for many years in the wholesale and retail fencing supplies sector and is a qualified fencer, with the FISS/CSCS accreditation. His knowledge of fencing is invaluable to the many trade and domestic customers and commercial specifiers who contact him or visit the Fencing Essentials showroom adjacent to our Amesbury depot.

 

Sue Hopkins - Office Administrator

Sue is probably the first person you will speak to when you call our Amesbury office. Invariably helpful and courteous, she will ensure your enquiry is directed to the correct member of the Bawden team. In addition to her reception duties she is a highly efficient administrator who provides invaluable support in the office wherever and whenever it is needed.
