Bawden Director Runs the Royal Parks Marathon on behalf of Perennial

Bawden Managed Landscapes director Richard Stone smashed the recent Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon by running the 13.1 miles in 2:01:50, coming across the line as the 7,495th runner out of a field of 15,980! That’s some going! He ran on behalf of the horticulture and landscape industry’s charity Perennial, the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Society.

It was a beautiful autumn day and there were hundreds of spectators cheering the runners on, including Richard’s support team – wife Mel, children Harrison and Darcie, sister Nicki Bawden and Bawden’s marketing consultant Denise Ewbank. She should have been running too but an unexpected operation prevented her from taking part on the day; she will run it ‘unofficially’ in November.

To Richard’s credit, he looked fresh as a daisy as he crossed the finish and is now planning to run a marathon. Having trained for a number of months ahead of the run he was well prepared for the event.  On a Saturday morning Richard is usually found taking part in his local Park Run in Salisbury along with nearly 300 fellow runners.

Bawden Managed Landscapes have been providing grounds maintenance and landscape gardening services to customers across the South of England and in particular Wiltshire and Hampshire for the last 30 years.  Richard felt it was time to give something back by running the half marathon and raising valuable funds for those needing help from Perennial.
