April 2008
Amesbury based company “Bawden – Grounds and Estate Maintenance” was bang on target when it was awarded two grounds maintenance contracts from Landmarc Support Services Ltd. The contracts are for the provision of grounds maintenance services across two MoD training estates, Salisbury Plain Training Area and the Home Counties Training Area. Bawdens will be required to provide grass cutting and weed control together with ancillary services across both estates. Richard Stone, Company Director commented “we are extremely pleased to have been awarded these two contracts particularly given that our business is based on the edge of Salisbury Plain. We have had a long and strong relationship with various MoD establishments throughout Wiltshire, which this latest award can only serve to strengthen.” The contracts commence in April and are scheduled to last for a three year period.

November 2007

We would like to welcome Alan Stevens to Bawden Contracting Services. Alan joined us as Contracts Manager at the beginning of November 2007.
Alan has been in grounds maintenance since 1982. He has worked for several large companies over the years and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.
“ I started off working for a small grounds maintenance company on MOD sites where I learnt the basics. After a couple of years I moved on to a larger company and expanded my knowledge in all aspects of grounds maintenance. As the years ticked by I realized that I wanted to develop my career through management and in 1999, whilst working for Scion Estates Ltd, I was given the opportunity to do so.”
In 2004 Alan joined the global company Sodexho Land Technology and took on a new challenge, council contracts. His approach to the work enabled him to develop good working relationships with these new partners. This was recognized in praise from Wiltshire County Council and culminated in Alan being nominated for a ‘Star Award’ for most promising manager. Against some 300,000 staff across the UK, Alan was narrowly beaten into second place, largely due to the fact that he was leaving the company. On his new appointment, Alan says “ I am looking forward to this new challenge within Bawden Contracting Services, it’s a great company and everyone is very friendly. I relish the opportunity to build and develop the reputation and clientele of the grounds maintenance department as well as establishing Bawden Tree Care as a key ser vice provider within the South West area.”
