Since 1998, Bawden Managed Landscapes has been providing grass cutting, weed control, sports pitch maintenance and litter bin emptying services to the Ministry of Defence at Bordon Garrison, which was the home of the REME. We maintained this contract until such time as the British Army moved from Bordon and the Garrison effectively closed. Key maintenance areas on this site were the extensive sport facilities to be maintained, including football and rugby pitches, cricket facilities and small arms ranges. Our responsibilities also included maintaining the military cemetery in part for the Garrison and also on behalf of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The Garrison in Bordon, Hampshire is located in an area of dense woodland and Bawden Tree Care - a separate division of Bawden Contracting Services Ltd - were kept very busy maintaining the extensive tree stock - primarily Oak - within the estate.
Also for the Ministry of Defence, we have been supplying grounds maintenance services in Hampshire at Baker Barracks, Thorney Island. Working with Interserve Defence, we supplied a similar range of grounds maintenance services as those provided at Bordon Garrison. Given that this barracks was formerly an RAF Station, there were fewer trees to maintain, however the grass land was far more extensive and included areas designated SSSI.
Currently, Bawden Managed Landscapes are contracted to provide grounds maintenance services to the MoD via Serco on Portsdown Hill overlooking Portsmouth and Gosport. Here, Bawden provide grass cutting, shrub bed maintenance, minor tree works, road sweeping and winter maintenance.
